ALiM

In term 3 of this year Wainuiomata Primary is taking part in a Ministry of Education initiative called ALiM.  ALiM stands for Advanced Learning in Mathmatics. This programme starts Week 1, Term 3 and involves  Mr Cooper learning with an awesome bunch of students in the afternoon from 1.30 till 2.40pm, Mon to Thursday. There will be two groups of six students: 6 students being from a range of senior classes and the second group of 6 students from Room 8.

From time to time there will be resources added to this blog under the ALiM header to the right of this page. These resources will not only provide support for the student completing this programme but also for their whanau/family. The Maths Link to the right of this page will also provide other ideas for student, parents and family.

Some of the students begin using playdough to improve their understanding of fractions. Who would have thought playdough could be so much fun?

Kaydyn puts in some serious thinking.
Jonas tries to work out which fraction is largest: 1/2, 1/4 or 1/8
